My passions,
|
Founder/CEO of Sirromac Enterprises, Musician, Independent Travel Agent, Health Consultant
In pursuing my greatest passion, in my mid 20’s, I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music (Conducting & Violin Studies) from The Mannes College of Music here in New York City.
Now, it was also, and for as long as I can remember, that I expressed clearly the desire to be an entrepreneur, the desire to be independent providng unique products and services. In my pre-teens, I was selling greeting cards and going ‘door to door’ trying to sell inspirational plaques and dreaming of what I understand now as an adult, ‘financial freedom!’ My mom would also confirm that I was always empathetic and often saddened by the hardships of others, and wanted to make a difference.
Now, I find that a major ‘WHY’ for building a business years later, is not only to be financially secure, but to educate and inspire others to live their dreams, to serve, to genuinely provide a quality product & service.
I’m world traveled, have a great passion for Music, Art, and Travel (and yes, Wine) and receive a lot of satisfaction planning events for the enjoyment of others. The theme of My Blog and the concerns I write about, capture what means the most to me in life - they are: Music, Art & World Travel (as already stated, this includes my love of the grape), health, and being of service to others.
I invite you to spend some time with this blog and hope you will share your thoughts. My recommendation is to select the posts individually from The ‘Recent Posts’ List on the top right hand side of the main blog page.

My passions, my life. Another part.

My freshmen year in college here in New York, coming from Pittsburgh to study music, was amazing as I began to experience and learn how inter- connected wine and spirits are to other art forms, especially the Culinary Arts and music. So, my appreciation for and enjoyment of wine as a novice had a pretty good beginning.
In my sophomore year, I received a scholarship to study Orchestral Conducting with the great Franco Ferrara at the summer program held at Academia Chigiana in Siena Italy for 6 weeks – long enough to discover that something very special was going on there - living in the center of Tuscany and sharing the home of the Sangiovese Grape! This all, of course, providing the perfect accompaniment to the beauty of the Italian Aria, the great music of Verdi and Puccini (just to mention a few!). It’s impossible of course to experience the wine without learning about and finding enjoyment in Grappa, Sambuca etc.
I ended up spending 2 more consecutive summers there, and then remaining for a year and a half studying, performing, and indulging in the Culinary Arts, and the great wines & spirits of France, Germany, and of course, Italy.
How very exciting it was that I returned to New York, following my first summer in Europe, as a prize winner of the International Competition for Young Conductors at Besancon, France. I performed Berlioz’s ‘Roman Carnival Overture’ at the final concert which was broadcast on French National Television. More about this later on the same blog page, but a different part. I was twenty-two.
It’s important to mention my excitement in completing the wine course developed by Andrea Immer Robinson at The French Culinary Institute of New York, and yes, it was fabulous!
